Passing Gas

The doctor says Jessie has a lot of gas in her stomach. In fact, most pregnant women will see an increase in gas, especially during the first trimester. The main reason is because the body is producing a much higher level of progesterone, which is a hormone that relaxes smooth muscles, including the gastrointestinal tract in your body. By relaxing these muscles, gas and bloating are all increased in the stomach.

By the way, did you know that the average person passes gas about 14 times a day? That's a fact you could "pass" on to your co-workers. Anyway, the doctor doesn’t think the stomach cramps should be that big of a problem. Nothing to be too concerned about, so that's good.
